Where to stay with teenagers
The north coast has deep water at every hour: Nungwi and Kendwa are the simplest for teens who want to swim. The east coast (Paje) is made for kitesurfing but the sea goes out at low tide: see tides and swimming. For hotels with activities, see family hotels.
Diving, kite and snorkelling
The PADI Junior Open Water is done in four sea dives after a theory part: see PADI in Zanzibar. For snorkelling, read the best spots and Safari Blue or Mnemba. See also the Pungume sandbank.
Quad and thrills
Quad biking is for drivers of 18 with a licence, two people per machine at most according to our listings: under-18s can ask whether they may ride as passengers. See quad biking in Zanzibar.
Evenings and rules
Teens can go out at sunset in the northern villages, but the rules on alcohol and dress remain those of a Muslim island: see alcohol in Zanzibar.
