North or east: the choice that decides everything
With young children, the north is simplest: you can swim almost all day, see Nungwi and Kendwa. Note that one guide says the north attracts more party-goers. On the east coast the sea goes out at low tide: the pool becomes essential, see tides and swimming and Kiwengwa.

What to check before booking
- The kids' club: opening dates (high season only in several cases), ages accepted, hours.
- The plan: all-inclusive or half board, and what costs extra.
- Distance from the airport: 1 to 1.5 hours to the north, with tired children; see from the airport to your hotel.
- Health: malaria and vaccines, see vaccines and malaria.
- Sun and shade: little shade on some beaches.
