Colours to prefer and avoid

Beige, khaki, olive green: discreet and good with dust. Avoid dark blue and black, which attract tsetse flies in some parks, and very bright colours. Military camouflage is banned or discouraged in several East African countries: leave it at home.

By season

From June to October nights and mornings are cool: bring a fleece and a windbreaker. In November to December and April to May, add a light rain jacket. At Ngorongoro, at altitude, it is properly cold early in the morning. For luggage, domestic flights often require soft bags.
